Carlsbad Reads Together is an annual city-wide event held every April that connects the entire community through reading and special programming and events. This year, please join the Library for a fascinating evening with Pulitzer Prize winning author Hua Hsu, as he discusses this year’s selection, "Stay True," in conversation with ABTB founder Susan McBeth. This event is free and open to the public, with seating offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Author Chris Sweeney to Share the Story Behind "The Feather Detective" at Coronado Public Library As part of the 10th annual Coronado Community READ, the Coronado Public Library will host a special evening with author Chris Sweeney on Thursday, March 5 at 7 p.m. The free program will celebrate this year’s Community READ selection, "The Feather Detective: Mystery, Mayhem," and the "Magnificent Life of Roxie Laybourne," with Sweeney sharing his insight into the remarkable true story behind the book. "The Feather Detective" chronicles the groundbreaking work of Roxie Laybourne, the world’s first forensic ornithologist, whose pioneering techniques in feather identification helped solve crimes, prevent airplane disasters, and transform scientific understanding. Blending biography, history, and natural science, the book has been praised for its engrossing narrative and compelling subject matter. Downtown San Diego Partnership Clean & Safe Volunteer Clean-Up Day Join the Downtown San Diego Partnership’s Clean & Safe Program for a community clean‑up at Faultline Park and the surrounding neighborhood. The morning begins promptly at 9 a.m. with a warm welcome and a brief safety overview before volunteers head out to their assigned areas. Volunteers are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and closed‑toe shoes. Depending on the weather, consider bringing sunblock, a hat, or a light sweater. All necessary clean‑up tools and supplies will be provided by the Clean & Safe team—all you need to bring is your energy and community spirit.
