  • Visions Museum of Textile Art (VMOTA), a non-profit organization that celebrates and advances contemporary quilting and textile art, proudly hosts its inaugural Threads of Time fundraiser event that will be held at its museum that is located in the Arts District Liberty Station. On Saturday, April 26, 2025, the public is invited to participate in this event which is more than just a fundraiser; it is an opportunity to come together as a community, experience the creativity of wearable art, and connect over shared stories, food, and laughter. The event will include the following: · A Wearable Art Show, featuring garments inspired by historical events and reimagined for modern expression. · A Hands-On Art Engagement, where community members can create and explore textile art firsthand. · A lively atmosphere of gathering over delicious food and drinks, fostering meaningful connections. · Silent and Live Auctions, showcasing a stunning collection of artwork, experiences, and exclusive items, all to support our goal of raising necessary funds to empower artists and sustain our mission. The event starts at 5:30 pm with delicious food and drinks along with an art engagement where attendees can create and explore textile art firsthand. A wearable art show, featuring garments inspired by historical events and reimagined for modern expression from Mesa Fashion Program at Mesa College. The live and silent auction, which will showcase a stunning collection of artwork, experiences and exclusive items, will run until 8 p.m. to support VMOTA’s goal of raising the necessary funds to empower artists and sustain their mission of fostering connection, dialogue and inspiration. The exhibition ’Touchpoints’, highlights the transformative potential of collaborative art making as explored through the student-led seminar "DISCO", created and facilitated by MFA candidate Darby Simmons at Claremont Graduate University. In this seminar, artists initiated individual artworks and passed them to fellow participants, with each piece evolving through the contributions of the group. The result is a dynamic collection of works embodying shared creative processes, innovation, and collective imagination. To complement these collaborative pieces, the exhibition will also feature one individual work from each artist, providing insight into their personal practices and sparking dialogue on the interplay between individual and collective creation. Test your knowledge of all things San Diego while supporting a great cause. Gather your friends, form a team, and get ready to answer questions about our sunny city. Prizes await the top trivia masters, so bring your A-game! Let's come together for a memorable evening filled with laughter, good drinks, and a dash of friendly rivalry. You can sign up either as an individual or as a team of up to 4 members. Each round will include one San Diego focused question in addition to general knowledge questions. We're fundraising to pack 10,000 high-protein meals for the San Diego Food Bank to be distributed to San Diegans experiencing food insecurity. California food banks are seeing more families requesting food assistance now than before the pandemic, and fewer donations of food. Our goal is to provide thousands of shelf-stable, protein-rich meals to the San Diego Food Bank to help them meet the demand for healthy food options. With the help of Old Mission Rotary and a matching grant from Rotary District 5340, we’ll be able to pack over 10,000 meals if we reach our goal of $1,450.
