Join us on Saturday, August 5 at AleSmith Brewing Company to celebrate Tony Gwynn Day. In honor of his 2000th and 3000th hits in 1993 and 1999, two special commemorative beers featuring artwork by Ground Floor Murals will be released in 16oz 4-pack cans. There will also be other activities such as live music, DJs, raffle prizes, and live art activations from Ground Floor Murals leading up to the Padres vs Dodgers Watch Party at 5:40 PM (Drink specials available during the game to help root for the home team). Food trucks will be located onsite. This is a free event and all ages are welcome. RSVP'ing does not guarantee access to cans of the released beers. Limited amount of cases will be sold in a pre-sale to those who RSVP a week out to the event. The remaining cases will be sold onsite day of the event.

From the artist: “Being surrounded by a natural environment draws me in. It fosters wonder, a chance to pretend and imagine. Looking at the large and small issues, viewing closely and picking out the details are my triggers. With ‘The Middle’ I have created a world of stone strands. Each stone is distinctive in color, shape and character. I hand weave around each stone and can marvel in its uniqueness. Together they can surround, protect and stand silently. Within this protected atmosphere, there is the beginning of new forms. These hand-woven undulating shapes and structures are individual and special. They are in the center of a sheltered, safe and quiet place. They can develop and evolve as time allows. I have the joy of making in my art. They mourn their lost dreams and missed opportunities. Their fortune-telling maid often warns them of impending dangers. One weekend their movie star sister, Masha shows up unexpectedly with her sexy boy-toy Spike. Add to the mix one of Masha's avid fans, Nina who is visiting next door. The family is launched into a boisterous time of one-upmanship, exposed nerves, and a lot of broken mugs. Contains bits of adult language and situations.

Some folks work faster than others). By the end of the workshop, you’ll have not only crafted a one-of-a-kind ocarina but also developed a deeper appreciation for the ancient craft of ceramics.
