This event is in support of the students of Street of Dreams, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing educational and pro bono legal support to teen mothers in urban San Diego who are at a high risk of homelessness and incarceration due to the generational effects of poverty and addiction. The incredible young women of Street of Dreams have persevered through unimaginable obstacles to complete the Street of Dreams program, graduate from high school, and enroll in college, becoming the first college attendees in their families. By attending this concert, you can help ensure that Street of Dreams can continue to provide the educational support and resources necessary for these amazing students to succeed. Come join us for an afternoon of breathtaking spoken word performances by talented local artists, while also making a difference in the lives of these inspiring students. Alix E. Harrow's Starling House depicts a dying, fictional coal town's horrors and dark past. Harrow joins a long tradition of authors writing Gothic fiction as a way to process the ills of society.

Distinction Gallery and ArtHatch is pleased to announce our 12th Annual Art-A-Thon, a marathon of artistic creation to benefit the non-profit art center’s teen program. 16 artists from San Diego County will join together to create artwork for 24 straight hours. Completed artworks will be auctioned off starting at $100. Proceeds from art sales will be divided between the artists and ArtHatch to help support the centers free art education program for local teens. Participating artists this year are Kelly Vivanco and Peter Hillier, Victor Roman, Brady Willmott, Dinah Martin, Eusebio Travis Sevilla, Evgola, Jennifer Anichowski, Jennifer Barber, Lindy Ivey, Martita, Megan Darrough, Nicole Mendez Waszak, Olena Bugrimenko, Olga Tenyakova, and SonyArletta. The opening reception is scheduled for Saturday, January 14, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The bidding will take place from January 12 at 2 p.m. to January 28 at 2 p.m. pst.
