  • With her enchanted voice and evocative songwriting, Leslie Mendelson has won the hearts and minds of both an adoring fanbase and fellow artists alike. No less than Jackson Browne has declared, “Leslie's melodies are timeless. They reach me way back in my youth somewhere. I hear traces of Burt Bacharach and Carole King, and hooks and passages that remind me of the pop songs I grew up hearing on the radio,” while The Wallflowers frontman Jakob Dylan shares: “Voices like Leslie’s can get away with almost anything. Along with being a great songwriter, this leaves her with few if any peers.” A GRAMMY Award-nominated artist, Mendelson returns with her fourth studio album, "After The Party." For this latest effort, she collaborated with not one, but three producers: the legendary Peter Asher (James Taylor, Linda Ronstadt, Bonnie Raitt), the young, in-demand Tyler Chester (Madison Cunningham, Sara Bareilles, Sara Watkins) and her longtime songwriting partner, three-time GRAMMY Award-winner, Steve McEwan. • This explosive play body slams its way into the world of professional wrestling, where larger-than-life personas and real-world politics collide. At the heart of the story is Macedonio “Mace” Guerra, a lifelong wrestling fan turned “jobber,” paid to lose in the ring to make the bigger stars look good. But when Mace teams up with Vigneshwar Paduar, a fast-talking Brooklynite of Indian descent, the wrestling execs craft a controversial narrative, casting them as “terrorists.” Mace and Vigneshwar, however, are determined to flip the script—pushing their characters to the extreme to expose the unspoken racism and deep-rooted politics within the industry. Winner of the 2011 Obie Award for Best New American Play, the 2008 National Latino Playwriting Award, and a finalist for the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, "The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity" is a high-octane, thought-provoking satire that leaves everything on the mat, delivering a powerful punch of humor, courage, and social commentary. Content Disclaimer: "The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity" is recommended for mature audiences. The production contains mature subject matter that may be activating for some audience members. This play uses strong language, simulated violence/fighting, racial stereotypes, flashing lights and haze effects. Oceanside Theatre Company on Facebook / Instagram
