El Chingon, located at 560 Fifth Ave. in the Gaslamp Quarter, will raise a glass to National Margarita Day with a spirited lineup of events celebrating agave, cocktails and its bold new house destilado.
The festivities will include a Santo Tequila sampling social at El Chingon and Prohibition; and the debut of El Chingon Destilado tequila in a specialty honeydew margarita and guest-voted cocktail contest.
The celebration will kick off on Thursday, Feb. 19 with a Santo Tequila sampling social at El Chingon and Prohibition, GBOD Hospitality Group’s hidden underground speakeasy at 548 Fifth Ave.
The event will feature three Santo Tequila cocktail specials made with Santo Tequila Blanco, including its signature Madero with El Chingon house-made watermelon cordial, finished with a chamoy and Tajín rim, priced at $14; a fresh melon, lime juice and agave margarita, with a Tajín rim, priced at $14; and a shot of Santo and a Mexican lager combination.
Santo Tequila brand ambassadors will also pour complimentary tequila samples at El Chingon from 6 to 8 p.m. Founded by legendary rocker Sammy Hagar and iconic chef Guy Fieri, Santo Tequila is crafted with zero additives and made from 100% Blue Weber Agave sourced from the Highlands of Jalisco, Mexico.
On Sunday, Feb. 22, El Chingon will spotlight its newly introduced El Chingon Bad Ass Destilado tequila with a specialty honeydew margarita available exclusively for the day. The cocktail will be crafted with the destilado, fresh melon, lime juice and agave, finished with a chamoy and Tajín rim, and priced at $14.
Bartenders from across GBOD Hospitality Group’s restaurants and bars will shake up original El Chingon Destilado margaritas as part of a contest where guests will serve as the ultimate judges to vote for their favorite drink. The winning bartender will earn an unforgettable all-expenses-paid trip to Tequila, the small town in Mexico’s western state of Jalisco and the birthplace of the spirit.
