Janet Perkin’s abstract mixed media artwork is exciting and eclectic, with vibrant color and strong messages. Pierre Bonnard, Henri Matisse, Andre Derain and Gustav Klimt are artists who have influenced Janet’s style. Tasteful flouting of color and form is an important feature of Janet’s work. Using acrylic paint and collage, Janet weaves a story to connect with the viewer. She is an award-winning artist recognized by the National Collage Society and her artworks were featured in its annual calendar for three consecutive years. Many poets have been inspired by Janet’s art. Her paintings are included in The Merging of Art and Poetry books published over the last 14 years by the Escondido Arts Partnership. Janet’s work is exhibited in galleries, corporate offices and homes throughout the United States and in Europe. This exhibition is representative of a fresh energy and excitement in the Solana Beach Design District, where Art Scene West Gallery is promoting local art creation and collaboration. The San Diego Watercolor Society proudly presents the 42nd International Exhibition juried by award-winning artist, Linda Daley Baker. This highly competitive exhibition represents the very best of water-based media art from around the world. The exhibition runs from Oct. 3-31, 2022 at our Gallery in The ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station. The Opening Reception is Friday, October 7, 5-8 p.m. with over 95 ready-to-hang original paintings plus refreshments and the fellowship of other art enthusiasts. A Tribute to Heroes is the theme of the North Coast Symphony Orchestra’s upcoming Pops concert on Saturday, July 15, 2023, 2:30 p.m. at the Encinitas Community Center, 1140 Oakcrest Park Drive, Encinitas. The Shalimar Flute Quartet will perform a variety of musical selections from jazz to light classical at the Del Mar Library, 1309 Camino Del Mar, on Saturday, July 8 at 1 p.m. Music highlights include Shenandoah, Blue Skies, Cuban Dances, and Anitra’s Dance from Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite, among others. The Shalimar Flute Quartet is a group of talented flutists and friends who enjoy playing a wide variety of music written for various combinations of C flute, piccolo, alto and bass flute.
