  • This free educator training organized by Outside the Lens is part of a series of fall workshops for teachers with a focus on Arts Integration in K-12 schools. The September 25 session connects Social Science and Media Arts and covers the essential question: How can photography be used to capture and communicate the essence of daily life in a way that helps future generations understand our present? Participants will utilize photography to investigate historical documentation and to connect with their present-day experiences.   • From the KPBS arts newsletter: The San Diego Asian Film Festival celebrates 25 years this year, and in addition to an excellent lineup of films, there are several free programs. With "Free Films at 4," any weekday 4 p.m. screening is free (these are all shorts programs). The high school program, Reel Voices, also holds a free screening Nov. 10. Plus, all high school-aged youth and younger are free for all screenings, if tickets are still available at the door.
