November 16, from 9-11:30 a.m. In this workshop, students will learn about the origins of Kintsugi, the Japanese ‘art of golden repair,’ and its meaning as it relates to one’s own life. Instructor Luis Santiago explains, “In these uncertain and crazy times, I believe people can find some solace and comfort in realizing that their so called 'scars' and imperfections are things that do not need to be hidden or ashamed of.” While the traditional craft of Kintsugi can take multiple months to complete, mastery in application, and involves toxic lacquer, the techniques used in this workshop to repair two ceramic pieces and embellish these pieces in two distinct Kintsugi-inspired ways brings it to a much wider audience and allows for completion in one workshop. All materials are included. Students will learn two distinct ways of highlighting the breaks of their provided ceramic pieces and will take home a unique piece. Members of the Kumeyaay community of San José de la Zorra in Baja California are seeking to preserve their language for future generations.

An ensemble of singers and instrumentalists specialized in the performance of Baroque music on period instruments, Les Arts Florissants are renowned the world over. This concert features the San Diego debut of Théotime Langlois de Swarte, who is rapidly emerging as a much sought-after violin soloist (on both baroque and modern instruments), chamber musician, recitalist, and conductor. Manuel Oliver, father of Parkland shooting victim Joaquin "Guac" Oliver, will bring his one-man play to San Diego this weekend. "I feel like I'm parenting," Oliver said of the performances.

This event will be a celebration of womanhood and the highs and lows of having to grow up, showcasing art from the perspective of Black sexuality, rage, and desire, and will feature music inspired by the 1995 film “Party Girl”, food, and drinks. The work's on display include dynamic and playful uses of anatomy, bold shapes, lines, and color that guide the viewer on the journey through Black girlhood, womanhood, and perception.
