  • No experience necessary. Ages 18+ welcome! This workshop is designed to teach students the basics of woodworking and shop safety, and serves as a strong foundation for further exploration in woodworking. In addition to what you make, our goal is for you to leave feeling more comfortable operating machinery and working in a shop environment. Students will make a cutting board, and through that process, learn how to safely use the miter saw, jointer, planer, table saw, drill press, router; as well as how to use clamps, glue up, and apply finish to their pieces. Choose from three fun sessions where campers will explore techniques, learn about color, create art inspired by pieces from the museum’s collection, and meet new friends. Session 1: Color Adventure and Paint, ages 5-6 July 10 – July 14, 8:30 A.M. - 3:30 P.M. Color your world this summer at MCASD! Create and paint colorful masterpieces in a variety of art forms. Go on artistic adventures and make new friends while playing and painting your way through camp. Session 2: All about Animal Art, ages 7-9 July 17 – July 21, 8:30 A.M. - 3:30 P.M. Have a roaring summer full of art and animals! Create artistic animal sculptures, prints, and paintings. Session 3: Games and Street Art, ages 7-9 July 31 – Aug 4, 8:30 A.M. - 3:30 P.M. Art is play! Come on an adventure through contemporary art— explore abstract art techniques while making board games. Design your very own characters and bring them to life with stickers and trading cards.
