ONE-STOP SHOP Drug traffickers advertise on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, Twitter and YouTube. These advertisements are in disappearing, 24-hour stories and in posts, which are promptly posted and removed. Posts and stories are often accompanied by known code words and emojis that are used to market and sell illicit and deadly drugs on social media. These code words and emojis are designed to evade detection by law enforcement and by the preset algorithms used by social media platforms. Exposure Skate, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in north county San Diego, is hosting a free learn-to-skate clinic for women and nonbinary adults 18 and up on Saturday from 3-5 p.m. at Encinitas Community Park. This monthly program, “Sesh(E)” features free skate instruction from local Olympic and pro skateboarders as well as opportunities to participate in acts of service. This month, the Exposure will be collecting canned goods to donate to the Community Resource Center’s Food and Nutrition Services. Noted as America’s “Black Wall Street,” the neighborhood predated Oklahoma’s statehood and, as the most prosperous African American district in the nation with thriving Black-owned businesses, was seen as a promised land for Black Americans. The decades-long prosperity came to a sudden halt in the summer of 1921 when white Oklahomans attacked Greenwood’s businesses and residents, wiping out the community in a deadly, three-day massacre.

A Diné woman travels from the Navajo Nation to a Quechuan community in Peru to see how they address these issues in their region. The program tells the stories of Indigenous people across the world and shows viewers how their communities are working together to address some of the many challenges that the world faces collectively.

The La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club is set to host the United States Tennis Association’s (USTA) National Women’s Senior Hard Court Tennis Championships, Monday, May 15, through Sunday, May 21, 2023. Spectators are invited to watch as the best players from all over the country, ages 50 to 90+ will compete in the riveting tournament. Events will include singles and doubles in the 50, 60, 70, 80 and 90 and over age divisions. The La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club’s 50th Annual Men's Senior Championships will also take place that week in conjunction with the women’s events, and will include both singles and doubles for 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, and 85 and over age groups.
