The Museum plans to return the restored Euterpe figurehead to Star of India’s bow in the coming months as preparation for Star of India’s next sail, November 11 and 12, 2023. Star of India, built in 1863, is the world’s oldest active sailing ship and has circumnavigated the globe twenty-one times. Star of India first came to the City of San Diego in 1927. It was not until 1951 when Maritime Museum of San Diego made long-awaited historical renovations to the vessel originally named Euterpe, after the Greek goddess of music and poetry. Star of India relies on Maritime Museum of San Diego volunteers and a committed staff for her upkeep. San Diegans and visitors to our region alike will have the chance to come aboard Star of India for waterfront celebration festivities. For this day only, visitors may bring a friend or family member free with purchase of general admission ticket at regular price. General admission tickets provide visitors the opportunity to explore all of the historic vessels in the Maritime Museum plus enjoy dozens of below deck exhibits and galleries nested away and unseen from the embarcadero. General admission tickets include entrance to all Maritime Museum of San Diego vessels and exhibits. Tickets are $20.00 for adults, $15.00 for senior/military/students (13-17) and $10.00 for 12 and under and may be purchased in advance online or at the Maritime Museum of San Diego Ticket Booth located at Star of India Wharf, 1492 N. Harbor Drive (north embarcadero between Grape and Ash Street & next to Portside Pier), San Diego, CA 92101-3309.
