Many people find Modern Calligraphy attractive to learn because it allows them to create beautiful, fun, and hand-crafted letters that are unique and personal. Modern Calligraphy is often characterized by its use of thick and thin lines, giving the letters a dynamic and expressive quality. Enjoy complimentary snacks and beverages. Space is limited, so be sure to register early. Note: This is a two-part workshop. The uppercase alphabet will be taught on a separate date, and you will need to purchase the ticket separately. Two of these, Word Up! and The Poet’s Tree, were launched virtually during the pandemic shutdown and now go live on our Copley Plaza. They are joined by brand new events created just for our signature AXIS series. Realizing our commitment to making theatre matter to more people, AXIS offers free cultural programs on the Globe’s Copley Plaza, led by local artists and craftspeople. The Globe’s unique physical location—and now our social media platforms—are participatory art venues where we make opportunities for connectivity and creative placemaking.   • Eco-Artists: Exploring, Science, Technology & Art Summer Camp for 3rd-5th Grade August 5-August 9, 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Location: Writer's Ink, Liberty Station Register here Delve into the world of science, technology, art and environmental activism this summer! Using iPads DSLR cameras and XR technology, we will create abstract and innovative imagery while exploring the marvels of science. Learn how to use macro photography to capture the interactions between oil, water and color, experiment with the relationship between light and shadow and learn about the first printmaking technique. You will also explore the role art and science can play in protecting our planet. Equipment and snacks will be provided. This camp is open to 3rd-5th grade.
