Palomar Performing Arts Proudly Presents Iona Pay is a freelance French hornist performing across SoCal with the American Youth Symphony, the Santa Monica Symphony, the Southern California Brass Consortium, the New West Symphony, the Coronado Philharmonic, and other ensembles. She also performs in opera and musical pits, chamber ensembles and studio sessions in Los Angeles and San Diego. Passionate about brass chamber music, Iona has attended the American Brass Quintet Seminar at the Aspen Music Festival, and the National Brass Ensemble Academy at SFCM. She recently co-founded the Los Angeles Brass Alliance, an ensemble for early-career brass musicians, and looks forward to commissioning new works and bringing engaging performances to the public with the ensemble. Iona received her bachelor’s in Horn Performance from the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music, and simultaneously earned her bachelor’s in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics. She has also been invited to study at Domaine Forget De Charlevoix International Music Festival, Eastern Music Festival, and to perform with The Orchestra Now. Iona is currently pursuing an on-the-ground education in arts entrepreneurship and performance from freelancing in Los Angeles, and studies with Associate Principal of the New York Philharmonic, Richard Deane.
