In collaboration with So Say We All, the Hausmann Quartet presents "Seven Last Words", a performance of Joseph Haydn’s epic masterpiece alongside spoken word presentations of original works by the authors themselves. The texts will be inspired by the same scripture upon which Haydn based each of the movements of his monumental work, The "Seven Last Words" of Christ. Originally commissioned for a Good Friday service in 1783, it was adapted for string quartet by the composer and has since become a treasured Easter-time tradition around the world. Nominated for ”Best Rock Artist” at the San Diego Music Awards, Daring Greatly blends multiple genres including soul, rock, and Americana into a vibrant master class performance rich with incredible vocal harmonies and passion. Originally from Canada, lead vocalists and brothers Patrick and Liam Croome bring a strong familial connection to their onstage chemistry. Drummer Brayden Tario has been best friends with the Croome brothers since high school, bringing a level of comfort and camaraderie to the group. 2019 saw the addition of Lake Elsinore native David Mills on electric guitar who brings a distinct southern California edge to the band’s sound, while also contributing on the pedal steel. Matt Spatol joined on bass in 2021. The name Daring Greatly is inspired by Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt’s “The Man in the Arena” and the writings of Brene Brown, who authored a book with the same name. The first, Prelude to "Afternoon of a Faun," made his international reputation for its unashamed sensuality and dreamy delicacy. The second, Fantaisie for Piano and Orchestra, is remarkable for its lushness, unlike anything else the composer wrote. And who better than the amazing pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet to be at the keyboard? Then Rafael Payare will be on the podium for Mahler’s Symphony No. 4, which abounds in gorgeously colorful melodies that range from child-like innocence to deep explorations of the human soul. Nature Scene is a program presented on the Mandeville Art Gallery’s exterior screen featuring work by digital artists that have been commissioned or specifically adapted for the space. The works use artificial intelligence, generative algorithms, 3D scanning, and more to depict the influence of technological evolution on the staging and mediation of the natural world.
