The San Diego Watercolor Society proudly presents “Optional Paths”, juried by award-winning artist, Linda Doll. The water-based media exhibition runs Mar 31 – Apr 27, 2024, at our Gallery in The ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station. The Opening Reception is Friday, Apr 5, 5 - 8 p.m. with over 95 ready-to-hang original paintings plus refreshments and the fellowship of other art enthusiasts. Megan Nguyen started taking classical piano lessons at the age of 6, and hasn't stepped away from the keys since! She discovered her love for singing early on, and later started gigging, writing, and teaching while attending college at UCSD. Her music style is a mixture of pop, soul, with classical and jazz influences. Megan has been a piano and voice teacher since 2015, specializing in classical performance and theory. She teaches through her private studio and is a member of the Music Teachers Association of California. She is also an instructor at Kalabash School of Music and Arts, Musikey, and Coronado Arts Academy. Devoted to partnering with Native communities through the arts, MCASD is partnering with the Barona Cultural Center & Museum and Barona Indian Charter School to present a unique showcase featuring artwork created by 8th-grade students. The exhibit called Muuyaawkeh! (You Should Know!) is the name of the student-led exhibit and is an attempt at educating a wider audience off the reservation with a goal to show MCASD visitors the importance of protecting the pollinators and their Native habitat/plants. San Diego Potters' Guild members show their favorite recently fired new pots. With nearly forty juried members exhibiting there'll be many exceptional, unusual, innovative pieces on view. Members work in a variety of styles, use different clays and shapes. They have a wealth of artistic choices to accomplish clay work of high craftsmanship and beauty. About: The guild is a juried membership of more than 40 potters from San Diego, California. We are located in Balboa Park's historic Spanish Village, at Studio 29, where members make and sell their creations directly to the public. The gallery features a large and varied display of work from all our members and is refreshed periodically. The studio offers also a working space for our members. Every day, one of the guild members can be found working at the wheel, handbuilding, or preparing for a firing.
