Olivewood Gardens & Learning Center is inviting the community to come kick off the holiday season and shop local vendors at the Annual Holiday Bazaar. The Holiday Bazaar will take place on Saturday, November 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Olivewood Gardens and will feature more than 40 local vendors and Kitchenista entrepreneurs, and food for purchase prepared by our High School Culinary Program Interns. The free community event is an opportunity to discover handmade goods, holiday gifts, and treats. All proceeds will support the growth of locally owned small businesses. A variety of unique, locally made products will be available for purchase, including handmade scented soaps, candles, salsa macha, local honey, sourdough bread, tamales, jewelry, handbags, knitted wear, and much more. Kitchenista entrepreneurs will be selling artisanal breads, handcrafted jewelry, and Mexican artisan goods. A variety of seasonal fruits, vegetables, herbs, and ornamentals will be available for purchase to support Olivewood’s programs. Olivewood Gardens & Learning Center promotes health equity, food access, and community building. Proceeds from the Holiday Bazaar will help Olivewood continue to provide resources, programming, and nutritious food access to the community it serves. Olivewood collaborates with the community of National City and neighboring areas to increase access to fresh foods and vegetables and green spaces, fostering a healthier and more equitable future for all families. Liberty Station invites the community to join us for a free, family-friendly Halloween celebration! Gather in Ingram Plaza for live entertainment with a DJ set, a Hollywood car show, inflatable obstacle courses, crafts, activities, and trick-or-treating throughout Liberty Station for all to enjoy! All ages are encouraged to come decked out in their most elaborate costumes and participate in our costume contest. Registration is not needed for the costume contest. In the play by A. M. Dolan, Clapp portrays Frost, a native Californian, as the famed poet "bards around" the country, speaking to thousands at the height of his enduring popularity. The production blends Frost’s poetry, speeches, and conversations to offer a multidimensional portrait of the iconic American writer and four-time Pulitzer-Prize winner. Clapp, perhaps best known for playing detective Greg Medavoy in the12-season TV drama "NYPD Blue," "embodies the poet's joy and mischievous sense of humor," said the Boston Globe. The play is being produced by poet and Frost authority Robert Bernard Hass, executive director of the Robert Frost Society, and Rancho Santa Fe poet and Frost scholar Jim Hurley, associate director of the society. "We are thrilled to join with North Coast Rep to bring this superb production to San Diego for the first time," said Hass. "Those who know and revere Robert Frost will find him again in their midst through Gordon’s impeccable portrayal; others will meet a timeless Frost for the first time and fall for his irresistible mind and charm." The event will mark the latest in a series of recent collaborations by the Frost Society to present the California-born poet's work in three successive artistic genres: poetry, music, and drama The series launched in March 2024 with a four-day celebration of the poet's sesquicentennial year that drew hundreds of Frost lovers to hear ten of America's premier poets, including Pulitzer Prize-winner Tracy K. Smith. The following November, the Society collaborated with the San Diego Master Chorale in its interpretation of Randall Thompson's Frostiana, a composition based on seven of Frost's most beloved poems.
