Each year the UC San Diego’s Visual Arts department encourages the development of a clear and unified body of work over the course of two quarters by each student admitted to the Undergraduate Studio Honors Program. The group show at the end of this series showcases selections from these portfolios from each emerging artist. This exhibition is a culmination of this year's eleven students hard work and creative exploration, offering a glimpse into the future of their creative careers.   • Coastal Roots Farm, a nonprofit Jewish community farm and education center in Encinitas is teaming up with the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center and Limmud North America for a special “Express Freely, Art-Making Day” on the Farm, Sunday, Mar. 31 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. The community is invited for a day of community artmaking and creative exploration around the central theme of rebirth. Each participant will get to participate in two art tracks, choosing between creative writing, photography, theater/movement, choral singing, and visual art. To make this day extra special, the Farm has commissioned five teaching artists from across the U.S. to guide the sessions. No prior experience with the arts is necessary; all that is needed is the desire to try something new and the inner ok to let yourself play. There’s no better time to create your own one-of-a-kind fuzzy monster! In this workshop, we guide you from start to finish as you select, cut, hot glue and assemble the pieces and personality of your own customized puppet. No sewing is required in this workshop. Students bring their puppets to life with their own unique interests and imaginations, and by choice and placement of different face details. Each one is unique!
