  • S P A C E Pro Showcase is a final presentation of our 2024 S P A C E Pro Studio Residency program with Resident Artists, Cecily Holcombe, Victor De La Fuente, and Greta Nuñez. Through a 10-week artist residency process at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, La Jolla, our selected Resident Artists delved into research and development of new works. Join us for the culminating event of this process, to see what their creative research and exploration has yielded. Tickets are $15 for artists/students and $25 for the general public. April 19 & 20 7 p.m.
  • We are excited to invite you to our upcoming program, Celebrating Women in the Arts with soloists of Musica Vitale, Michael Sokol, Lisa Parente, and Julia Rahm, and our guest instrumentalists, violinist Nonna Alakhverdova and pianist Olena Galytska. You will hear vocal and instrumental works by women composers: Lili Boulanger, Amy Beach, Lori Laitman, Hildegard Von Bingen, and others. Open Studios will feature over 20 MFA & PhD artists' open studios, exhibitions, screenings, and publications produced in the Department of Visual Arts. The artists will be present in their studios throughout the afternoon and excited to talk about and share their work with you. Open Studios coincides with the opening of Lauren Lee McCarthy: Bodily Autonomy at the Mandeville Art Gallery!

  • DePrince, born in Sierra Leone, lost both her parents during the country's civil war. She became the youngest principal dancer at the Dance Theatre of Harlem and later joined the Boston Ballet.
  • This beginner 3-hour woodworking workshop will acquaint students with a woodturning lathe, its parts, the tools needed, safety tips, tool sharpening techniques and how to shape wood on a lathe. The class will consist of students learning to round a piece of square stock, learning the four basic cuts and turning a honey dipper as their take home project. This class is appropriate for ages 16 years and older. All materials included. LUMBER SALE! | SAT, MAY 19 | 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Lumbercycle, a local nonprofit, will have a lumber sale directly after our next class.   • This week of Summer Camp is all about cooking with farm-to-table ingredients and a fun mix of garden & kitchen-related crafting! Is your child curious about where their food comes from? Does your child love to make crafts? This summer, open their world to exploring the bounty of local, colorful ingredients and how those foods got from the ground to our plates with local culinary arts instructors from Sticky Fingers Cooking. Did your child know that carrots can improve your eyesight, and cherries can help improve your memory? Young chefs will also learn what makes certain ingredients super healthy for the body and how delicious they can taste, while practicing basic cooking skills and techniques on their way to becoming super chefs! When kids aren’t in the kitchen, they’ll be learning to craft using fun, traditional materials with San Diego Craft Collective instructors with a variety of projects! Preschool age children, 4-6 years old, are invited to join in the fun in the mornings from 9 a.m. – Noon School-age children, 7-12 years old, will cook and craft in the afternoons, from 1p.m. – 4 p.m. OPTIONAL | Lunch Hour Supervision If there is a camp ending as ours begins and you need your child transferred, let us know! And, if you’d like your camper to stay during the lunch hour, there’s a $25 fee for the week to cover the lunchtime gap. They can bring a lunch and have lunch with us with the option to craft after lunch.
