  • Opening Night featuring "Make Peace or Die" 6 p.m. | 180 mins Museum of Photographic Arts at the San Diego Museum of Art Marine Corps veteran Anthony Marquez returned from Afghanistan deeply wounded and riddled with survivors guilt. His unit, 1st Battalion 5th Marine Regiment, lost 17 men on their 2011 deployment to Sangin. Upon returning home, Anthony made it his mission to help the Gold Star families of the fallen find healing, and in the doing so, attempt to heal himself. Established in 2015, the GI Film Festival San Diego is a multi-day showcase of films for, by, and about military and veteran experiences. Films featured in the festival reveal the struggles, triumphs, and experiences of service members and veterans.
