  • The Elizabeth Hospice invites individuals interested in helping adults and children facing the challenges associated with a life-limiting illness and those grieving the death of a loved one to a free volunteer orientation session conducted via Zoom video conferencing. Hospice volunteers are an important part of the care team at The Elizabeth Hospice and have an opportunity to make a real difference in someone’s life. Attendees will learn about a wide variety of virtual and in-person opportunities throughout San Diego County and Southwest Riverside County, including serving as a patient companion, providing caregiver respite, performing aromatherapy, sewing Cuddle Bears, officiating at veteran pinning ceremonies, and much more. Information will be provided on both the application and training process. An email address and a device with a camera interface are needed to participate in the training session or attendees can join by phone. Prospective volunteers can choose from the following dates: • December 1, 2022 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. • December 9, 2022 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. • December 14, 2022 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. To ensure a place at the volunteer orientation session, please contact the Volunteer Department at 800-797-2050 or send an email to volunteer@ehospice.org. The San Marcos Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the return of the San Marcos Holiday Market at North City for a third consecutive year where guests can partake in the festive winter holiday spirit. The beloved open-air market returns to North City on Sunday, December 4, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will feature over 100 local artisans and crafters. Guests will enjoy cheerful live music while shopping for unique holiday gifts, decorations, pre-packaged food, and treats, and indulge in a variety of delicious seasonal food and beverages. This event is for everyone to enjoy, even Santa Claus will be paying a special visit. The Holiday Market is free and is located at 251 North City Drive, off Hwy 78 & Twin Oaks Valley Road, near Cal State University San Marcos.
