Saturday October 29, Barrio Star is partnering with PAWS4Thought Animal Rescue to host an animal adoption event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside at their patio. The always pup-friendly restaurant located between the communities of Banker’s Hill and Hillcrest, serves a modern menu of Mexican soul fool that weaves bold Latin flavors with clever Asian touches, using fresh, local, and organic ingredients. PAWS4Thought Animal Rescue is a Bonita-based nonprofit all-breed animal rescue organization whose primary goal is to pair these pets with loving foster homes until they are adopted into their permanent “fur-ever” homes. Together, the team at Barrio Star and PAWS4Thought Animal Rescue will host plenty of food, drinks, and adorable adoptable animals eager for new homes. Ekphrastic poets find their inspiration in works of visual art. The poems they write imagine, describe or expand upon the “story” of an image, and each individual poet creates unique works of poetic art, separate from but related to the visual art. In this workshop Sarah Z. Sleeper will teach you methodologies so that you can confidently approach this exciting cross-genre art space. You will work in the lovely Inspirations Gallery and will create one or more of your own ekphrastic poems.
