  • Want to learn a thing or two about comedy from the guy who wrote the book (specifically The Comic Toolbox: How to be Funny Even if you’re Not)? Then don’t miss this workshop – party, really – ‘cause we’ll be looking at comedy through the specific filter of Halloween – and we’ll be doing it in costume! Is that right? Did you hear right? Are you really expected to come in costume to a Zoom writing workshop in the privacy of your own home? You bet you are. Just think about how daring you’ll feel, and recognize that daring is to comedy as apples are to candy apples – indispensable! Does this sound frivolous or really not like a writing class at all? Come on – haven’t you ever struggled to come up with a great Halloween costume? Isn’t it the same struggle as writing a joke? Can’t we fix that? Yes, we can! Or say, how about this? Have you ever thought of a great idea for a Halloween gag or event only to hear a little voice inside your head saying that they’ll never let you get away with that? Isn’t that the same as self-editing a non-Halloween joke or story? Can we fix that? Yes, we can! And even if you don’t care all that much about Halloween, it’ll still be a fun and festive workshop that’ll kick start your comedy and creativity just in time for… well, for whatever comes next. You want topics? We got topics! Fast iteration Clash of context Using taboo as a tool How to FAIL BIG! Plus plenty of time for Q&A Don’t miss out! DO COME IN COSTUME! It won’t be a party without you. • Clay Open Studio is an opportunity for students to practice the clay skills they have already learned in our clay classes. Students have the chance to work in our studio using either hand building techniques or working on a pottery wheel. This is not an instructional class. There will be no instructor. By signing up for Clay Open Studio, you will receive 1/2 a bag of clay, 1 bisque fire, 1 glaze fire, and use of our glazes. We work with midfire clay. No outside clay is allowed (because disastrous things can happen, and we like our kilns!) Since there is no instruction in Open Studio, some clay experience is necessary. You must have taken one of our clay courses to participate, or have clay experience from elsewhere. Follow on social media! Facebook + Instagram
