  • Intro to Journaling will get you into the habit of daily writing. Research shows that journaling has a myriad of benefits, including an increase in creativity, organization, achieving goals, as well as an improvement in mental health. Each day students will alternate from writing stream of consciousness to answering writing prompts. By the end of the program, students will be in the habit of journaling for ten minutes a day. Along with daily journaling, weekly Zoom classes will take place where you will check-in, meditate, and do journaling exercises. The class will provide community, inspiration, and accountability. Students will also have a private call with Emily at the beginning of the program to identify goals. You will be emailed the Zoom link 24 hours before the start of class. If you sign up less than 24 hours before the start of the class, please email Kristen at programs@sandiegowriters.org for your link.
  • As global leaders continue to drop restrictions aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19, all-too-familiar warning signs are emerging that point to the same uncomfortable reminder: this pandemic isn’t over yet. Plus, as Presiden Joe Biden directs more aids to Ukraine, more Ukrainian refugees are arriving at the US-Mexico border in hopes of making it into the United States. Meanwhile, welcome news for many sleep-deprived Americans, the Senate — in a rare display of bipartisanship — unanimously voted to make daylight saving time permanent. But many believe moving permanently to standard time — rather than daylight saving time — is a better solution. Also, the Federal Reserve raised interest rates for the first time in three years and that could mean a slow down of the San Diego housing market, but the cost to buy or rent here is still out of reach for many. And, new research shows that fear of racial discrimination weighs heavily in career decisions among some military service members of color. Finally, in part two of an ongoing series looking at the effect the pandemic has had on the local performing arts scene, we look at the state of live theater.

  • A lot of new cars can drive themselves down the middle of a lane and adjust speed to match traffic. Some even let you go hands-free at times. But they all require very close supervision.
  • Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen warned lawmakers that unless the debt ceiling is raised soon, the federal government may not have enough money to pay its bills as early as June 1.
