The North County Winds Concert Band, under the direction of Vince Hernandez, performs a concert of Swing Music on Saturday July 13 at 2 p.m. at St Bart’s Episcopal Church in Poway. Music of Glen Miller, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Artie Shaw, Dave Brubeck, and others will be featured. Concert includes a few pieces from the 17 piece North County Winds Big Band! Inspired by the blue cast of twilight, Anne Labovitz uses light and its profound meanings in various contexts as the central construct of "The Blue Hour." Small libraries, illuminated windows, and Tyvek sculptures explore physical and metaphorical luminosity, color, and materiality, inviting visitors to experience serenity and emergent energy. Labovitz aims to respond to today’s world by challenging isolation, loneliness, and disconnection through activating color and light in large-scale works. About the exhibition: From the KPBS weekend arts preview: Currently on view at the Athenaeum in La Jolla is a site-specific exhibition by Minneapolis-based artist Anne Labovitz that feels immersive. Massive, vividly-hued textiles are suspended from the Athenaeum's ceiling beams, and large wall works play with light, color and space. Stephanie Bergsma worked at KPBS from 1982 to 2012. As associate general manager, Bergsma was responsible for major gifts, production underwriting, Gays and Lesbians for Public Broadcasting affinity group and the Producers Club. Her greatest achievements include raising the funds to build the KPBS Copley Telecommunications Center and funding all of the equipment including the HDTV conversion pieces.

The versatile actor had hundreds of screen credits to his name, including Platoon, The Rock and Final Destination.
