  • Over the past 25 years, OMA has presented over 300 diverse and engaging exhibitions that reflect their core interest to explore the stories of Southern California artists. Legacy: 25 Years of Art and Community is a survey of artwork selected from many of OMA’s past exhibitions. Compelling pieces from landmark community-building exhibits such as Worn with Pride (2000), Chouinard: A Living Legacy (2001), Artifacts: Allied Craftsmen of San Diego (2018), Lowbrow Art: Nine San Diego Pop Surrealists (2009), and Masterpieces of San Diego Painting: Fifty Works from Fifty Years, 1900-1950 (2008), will tell the story of how a volunteer-based organization grew from its humble beginnings in 1997 to the cultural destination it is today. Featuring work by James Hubbell, Wendy Murayama, William Glen Crooks, Allison Renshaw, Italo Scanga, and Charles Arnoldi, among others, this exhibition will create new narratives while remembering the seminal role OMA has played in the history of contemporary art in our region. • BFree presents Time for Women Artists (TWA)’s newest group show, “Turning Tides” this summer. The group will showcase their individual visions of what the theme means to them: ebb and flow, change, transition, the sea—and more. The works are in a range of sizes and media. The exhibition will present works by all 12 TWA group members, showcasing their individual visions of what “Turning Tides” means to them. As we head into a changed world, post-pandemic and with social and political shifts, these are expressions of hope during transition, of ways to move forward, of the force of the spirit and the resilience of nature. The works are in a range of media: from textiles to painting, ceramic and bronze sculpture to mixed media, and in many styles, from abstract to whimsical to realism. The group has been working and showing together for 6 years, and were recently featured at the Oceanside Museum of Art in an exhibition titled “Now.” Member artists also show individually, in galleries and museums on both coasts, and their work is held in corporate and private collections worldwide. WHEN | This exhibition is ongoing from August 19 to September 3, 2022. • Open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. LOCATION | BFree Studios • 7857 Girard Ave, La Jolla, CA 92037 SOCIALS | Follow BFree Studios on Facebook | Instagram
