Kathy is the pianist/vocalist for Stone Soup Jazz and assistant musical director/accompanist at San Carlos United Methodist Church. As a professional pianist and vocalist Kathy has performed all over the US and in Europe, from solo piano work to jazz clubs to pit orchestras, recording for radio and TV in Boston and LA. She has toured South America and was the keyboardist on 3 albums with Venezuelan artist Frank Quintero and Pablo Manevello. In 2014 she received a 1st place award in the MTAC State Composition Contest for her piece "Little Oscar Prelude" (dedicated to Oscar Peterson) and 2nd place for a solo piano piece, "Paint the Stars", an advanced work. She also served as pianist in a steller trio with Jeff Blanco and Richard Sellers backing up vocalist Stacey Roberts on his January 2015 CD release of "When Sunny Gets Blue" (available on CDbaby and iTunes). She has had the honor of accompanying San Diego jazz legend Charles McPherson, and other local notable musicians such as Leonard Patton, Gary Rich and David Borgo. She has served as pianist for the Legacy Big Band, Downbeat, and Marty Conley Big Band, accompanist for Off Broadway Live and loves being a part of the numerous jazz jam sessions/events and clubs in the thriving San Diego jazz scene. Learn the latest advances in caring for patients with orthopedic and sports medicine injuries at a daylong symposium, featuring expert presentations and discussions. The event will bring together sports medicine physicians; former professional athletes and coaches from Major League Baseball, the National Football League and the National Basketball Association; local team general managers; athletic trainers; physical therapists; and others on the front lines of sports and athletic care. Topics will include a thorough analysis of overhead throwing athletes, such as baseball pitchers; considerations for contact sports such as football, rugby and hockey; tracking and managing mental stress in athletes; overall athletic development, performance training and injury risk reduction; and health preservation after an athletic career. Breakfast and lunch will be included. Presented by the San Diego Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine Fellowship. The symposium will be held Friday, July 26 from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Alexandira at Torrey Pines, 10996 Torreyana Rd., San Diego 92121. Tickets for clinical providers, coaches and athletes are $175 per person now through July 25 (and $250 per person on July 26). About Danielle Angeloni Danielle has been singing before she could talk and dancing before she could walk. She writes jazz/pop/soul music reminiscent of artists such as Norah Jones, Emily King, and Lianne la Havas. Coming from a musical family, she’s also heavily influenced by many different styles including jazz, Motown, psychedelic rock, and alternative genres. When she isn’t writing, performing, or concert hopping Danielle works as a board-certified music therapist serving children with neurodevelopmental differences. Danielle received a scholarship to study vocal performance, songwriting, and music therapy at Berklee College of Music where she graduated cum laude in 2015. Sunday Brunch and New Orleans Jazz Trios only at Books & Records Bar! Jon Garner is a gigger, studio musician, and perpetual student. He holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from University of Massachusetts - Amherst, and a Master of Music Degree from San Diego State University. He has performed thousands of gigs all across the United States, but primarily slowly crawls the freeways of Southern California on the way to the next performance. He has performed in every kind of band - from classical to jazz, blue grass to punk. Jon has studied privately with the great guitar masters, Yusef Lateef, Sephane Wrembel, and Gonzalo Bergara, and was lucky enough to glean insights from both Joe Pass and Jim Hall personally. Their wisdom planted the seeds that would become the G Way, use a little to get a lot, simplify. Jon has been teaching for 20 years. Many of his students have become professional musicians themselves, but he teaches beginners and experts alike. He teaches in his private studio, at Palomar College, San Diego School of the Creative and Performing Arts, and online. So far, knock on wood, all of his students have passed their auditions, due to their hard work and Jon's no-nonsense approach to playing guitar. Stephanie Bergsma worked at KPBS from 1982 to 2012. As associate general manager, Bergsma was responsible for major gifts, production underwriting, Gays and Lesbians for Public Broadcasting affinity group and the Producers Club. Her greatest achievements include raising the funds to build the KPBS Copley Telecommunications Center and funding all of the equipment including the HDTV conversion pieces.
