The warmest day this week appeared to be Wednesday, forecasters said.

The average price has dropped 46.1 cents since rising to a record $6.435 on Oct. 5.

The tropical moisture was predicted to move across Southern California Friday night, followed by weak ridging Saturday afternoon through Sunday for warm, dry weather.

A run of 54 increases in 58 days totaling $1.045 that boosted the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County to its highest amount since Oct. 17 ended Thursday with the decrease of a half-cent to $5.989.

Not much change or slight cooling was predicted for the early and middle part of next week.

Thursday is the final day to file a claim for $543,171 in county unclaimed monies before it is rolled into the county general fund.

The National Weather Service has issued an excessive-heat warning, effective from 10 a.m. Tuesday to 8 p.m. next Monday.

The department is looking to fill over 400 positions, and willing to pay tens of thousands of dollars in signing bonuses to attract new employees.

It's going to feel a lot like summer across much of San Diego County starting Wednesday.
