The warmest day this week appeared to be Wednesday, forecasters said.

The average price has dropped 46.1 cents since rising to a record $6.435 on Oct. 5.

The tropical moisture was predicted to move across Southern California Friday night, followed by weak ridging Saturday afternoon through Sunday for warm, dry weather.

A run of 54 increases in 58 days totaling $1.045 that boosted the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County to its highest amount since Oct. 17 ended Thursday with the decrease of a half-cent to $5.989.

Not much change or slight cooling was predicted for the early and middle part of next week.

Thursday is the final day to file a claim for $543,171 in county unclaimed monies before it is rolled into the county general fund.

The latest in-custody death comes on the heels of news that a sheriff’s deputy was arrested for allegedly having illegal drugs on county jail property.

Officials with the U.S. Department of Transportation issued a statement in response to Southwest's cancellations, noting that the department will be looking into the situation.

The National Weather Service has issued an excessive-heat warning, effective from 10 a.m. Tuesday to 8 p.m. next Monday.
