Long-COVID refers to symptoms that persist for weeks or months after COVID-19 infection. The symptoms are wide-ranging and can include pain, headaches, fatigue, "brain fog," shortness of breath, anxiety, depression, fever, chronic cough and sleep problems, among others.

Eduardo Arriola, 29, was convicted by a Vista jury earlier this year of first-degree murder, plus a special circumstance allegation of lying in wait, for the July 20, 2018, killing of 24-year-old Devon Rideout.

Douglas Badger is classified as a sexually violent predator, a designation for those convicted of sexually violent offenses.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention moved San Diego County to the high-risk level for COVID-19 three weeks ago and cases continue to trend high.

According to Customs and Border Protection, construction at the park in southwestern San Diego will be paused "to engage with community stakeholders and to discuss the planned construction to rebuild barrier sections requiring repair in this area."

The land acquired is part of the East Elliot Community Planning Area, located just west of Santee, north of Mast Boulevard and east of Republic Services Sycamore Landfill.

The announcement comes after a judge struck down San Diego's COVID-19 vaccine mandate, saying only the state can make that a requirement.

Earlier this month, supervisors unanimously voted to oppose any further placements of sexually violent predators until local jurisdictions are able to fully participate in the placement process, including having full veto authority.
