San Diego County reported 685 new COVID-19 infections and 12 new deaths Tuesday, as the region's hospitals continue to prepare for a possible "fifth surge" of the virus.

The initial quake, with a magnitude of 3.7, struck at 3:41 p.m. about five miles south of Mountain Center, and roughly 15 miles east-southeast of Hemet

The increase will hit single-family homes hardest, while multi-family homes such as condos and apartments, as well as nonresidential ratepayers will actually see a decrease of 5% and 12.1%, respectively.

The woman was eventually arrested and booked into county jail in Vista on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer.

The testimony from De Guzman's family, friends and other San Diego officers came in the murder trial of Jesse Michael Gomez, 60, who was convicted last week of killing De Guzman, as well as the attempted murder of his partner, Wade Irwin.

The announcement comes after a judge struck down San Diego's COVID-19 vaccine mandate, saying only the state can make that a requirement.

Earlier this month, supervisors unanimously voted to oppose any further placements of sexually violent predators until local jurisdictions are able to fully participate in the placement process, including having full veto authority.
