Authorities Wednesday publicly identified one of three homeless men who were killed when a station wagon with a suspected drugged driver behind the wheel jumped a curb in an East Village tunnel.

The San Diego County Board of Supervisors today unanimously approved a 50-year ground lease for a property near Gillespie Field where a 141,360-square-foot distribution center is planned.

Cajon Valley Union, San Diego Unified and Chula Vista Elementary school districts have all announced plans to reopen for either in-person or hybrid learning on April 12.

Supervisors Terra Lawson-Remer and Nora Vargas said they proposed the initiative "to help young people in the region jumpstart their careers amid the pandemic-induced recession."

The city received $16.8 million in state and federal funds to provide relief to residents and is distributing the funds through the Chula Vista Emergency Rental Assistance Program in collaboration with South Bay Community Services.

The City of San Diego Tuesday announced plans to develop a program to promote ownership and employment opportunities in the legal cannabis industry.

The announcement comes after a judge struck down San Diego's COVID-19 vaccine mandate, saying only the state can make that a requirement.

Earlier this month, supervisors unanimously voted to oppose any further placements of sexually violent predators until local jurisdictions are able to fully participate in the placement process, including having full veto authority.
