Thomas Fudge
Science and Technology ReporterA journalist with 30 years of experience, Tom covers science and technology stories for KPBS' platforms. He joined KPBS in 1998 to cover San Diego issues related to growth, transportation, and development. He previously served as host of These Days (now KPBS Midday Edition) and as a news editor. Tom began his broadcasting career in 1988 at WSUI Radio in Iowa City as a reporter and newscaster. He then spent five years at Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) where he worked as a reporter. Following his departure from MPR, Tom was a freelance journalist, working for Twin Cities Public Television, WCCO Radio, and a variety of regional and national newspapers and magazines. He has received recognition for his outstanding work in hosting and public affairs reporting from the Unity Awards, the Northwest Broadcast News Association, and the San Diego chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.

In their most popular play, "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)" the three-man comedy troupe turns all of Shakespeare's 37 plays into a two-hour romp. Telematic music is real-time performance via the internet by musicians in different geographic locations. In recent years, University of California faculty including UCSD's Mark Dresser have led new developments in telematic performance and they'll be performing telematically this weekend at UCSD with musicians in New York. -
La Jolla Country Day School Band Director William Reed joins us to discuss the musical-opera he wrote and composed. "Affair of Honour," which focuses on the rivalry between Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr, has been three years in the making and stars both students and professional actors. A final staged reading will take place on June 10 and 11 at 7 p.m. at the Four Flowers Theater at La Jolla Country Day School.
