Chef Nancy Silverton At Chino Farm

Aired 11/15/11 on KPBS Midday Edition.

Guests: Nancy Silverton, co-owner, Pizzeria Mozza

Milane Christiansen, Vintage Works

Now that we live in a new world where bookstores are disappearing, book lovers have fewer and fewer chances to meet the authors they love. Milane Christiansen, seasoned San Diego bookseller has joined with Chino Farms to provide onsite book signings during regular stand hours, out in the open air, and always including seasonal vegetables. This Sunday, Los Angeles restauranteur and cookbook author Nancy Silverton is bringing a chef to prepare winter squash crostini and other samples from the book. Pizzeria Mozza is co-owned by restauranteur royalty: Silverton, Mario Batalli and Joseph Bastianich (son of Lidia).

I am very excited for Mozza to open in downtown San Diego. The public library continues to be an excellent place to meet favorite authors. For example, tomorrow Journalist Cathy Robbins will discuss her new book, All Indians Do Not Live in Tepees (or Casinos) and One Book, One San Diego is coming up.
