Apparently Timothy Poe doesn't "got" talent, at least not enough for the judges on "America's Got Talent." The one-time Minnesota National Guardsman who gained infamy for lying about his war wounds was voted off the show last night.
Sticking to his country music shtick, Poe sang the George Strait song "The Chair," which showed off his lack of vocal strength, according to judge Howie Mandel. He told fellow judges (according to the San Jose Mercury News):
"I don't know that he holds up to other singers on this show at all."
Now, keep in mind, last night's show was taped before the very first one had aired, meaning the judges had no idea yet of Poe's alleged fraud.
Just a refresher: Poe told the judges and audience during his first appearance on AGT that he suffered a brain and back injury during a grenade blast in Afghanistan. A Minnesota National Guard spokesman later released a statement saying Poe's military records showed he'd never been injured by a grenade blast.
Poe also gave AGT a picture of a soldier in Afghanistan he claimed was him - a picture that was used during a biographical montage about Poe. Turns out, the picture was of a soldier named Staff Sgt. Norman Bone, who was none too happy about the photo fakery.
