“SALT OF THE EARTH” (1954. 92 minutes)

Banned at the time of its release and made by blacklisted filmmakers, this is a bold, revolutionary film of struggle and resistance. The saga of striking Mexican-American miners in New Mexico radically addresses issue of sexism, racism and class exploitation.

FILM FORUM CORONADO is held in the Winn Room at the Coronado Public Library twice a month, on the First and Third Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m., with a brief introduction of a classic or contemporary film, followed by the film screening and a discussion afterwards, led by Ralph DeLauro as time permits. This program is presented by the Coronado Public Library in partnership with the Coronado Island Film Festival.
