Join award-winning Chef Spencer Hunter of Lia’s Lumpia on February 22, 2026, from 6–8 p.m. at the San Diego History Center for a one-night Afro-Filipino Kamayan feast celebrating culture, family, and bold fusion cuisine.
A San Diego native and finalist on Food Network’s Great Food Truck Race, Chef Spencer honors his Filipino grandmother’s culinary legacy while blending it with his African American roots. He has taken first place for his Sisig Lumpia, cheffed for distinguished clientele ranging from corporate leaders to members of the British Royal Family, and continues to redefine what modern fusion cuisine can be.
Gather around banana leaf–lined tables and enjoy a vibrant spread featuring Mac n Cheese Lumpia, BBQ Pulled Pork, Adobo Fried Chicken, Filipino Spaghetti, Jasmine Rice, Collard Greens with smoked turkey, Coconut Cornbread with calamansi butter, and more.
Tickets include appetizers, kamayan feast, complimentary beverages, and after-hours admission to SDHC exhibits, including Taste San Diego: Filipino Culinary Journeys.

San Diego History Center
The San Diego History Center, located in the heart of Balboa Park, is the headquarters of the San Diego Historical Society. Here you will not only find a collection of intriguing exhibitions that chronicle San Diego’s diverse history, but also a Research Library. This is home to over 45 million pieces of paper and 2.5 million images that document the people, places and events of San Diego’s past. In addition to the exhibitions at the Museum of San Diego History, the museum also presents a number of public programs including lectures, workshops and educational programs.
