The California Surf Museum is a place where surfing is not frozen in time, but understood as a living, evolving culture. “40 Years of Waves, Stories, and People” shares the growth of the California Surf Museum from a small display in a restaurant to its current world-class and internationally-known facility. “Surfriding: Hawaiian Royalty’s Gift to the World” presents the seminal period of surfing’s development and captures the essence of a moment in cross-cultural exchange — with the surfboards and a story of fascinating Hawaiian personalities in a world now almost forgotten.
