Set in the gritty East Village of New York City, "Rent" is about falling in love, finding your voice and living for today. Winner of four Tony awards including Best Musical presented by Andrew Lloyd Webber and a Pulitzer Prize for Drama the same year, Jonathan Larson’s iconic "Rent" has become a pop cultural phenomenon with songs that rock and a story that resonates with audiences of all ages.

San Diego Musical Theatre’s (SDMT) mission is to passionately produce, provide, preserve and promote musical theatre that ignites the human spirit.
The SDMT Stage is located in the former Tupperware building in Kearny Mesa on the corner of Mercury and Engineer. An intimate space with 120 seats where you feel like you are part of the show no matter where you sit! The SDMT Stage is the home of our Academy as well as our Pre-professional and Holiday shows.
