Dozens of Anna Arnolds' friends gathered at the Gary and Mary West Senior Center Downtown to see her blow out 100 candles on her birthday cake.
Originally from Brooklyn New York, she and her husband moved here after doing military duty around the world. She never had kids but she touched hundreds of lives volunteering for 30 years at the senior center.
"The center means a lot to me. I have been here with them for years I have done everything here" Arnold said.
Paul Downey is the CEO of the non-profit that runs the center. He says the services they provide are critical to keeping the growing senior population active and healthy.
"Having that interaction with other people is as critical as having a good meal, medicine or exercise," Downey said.
The downtown facility serves 700 meals a day, and offers cooking, fitness and civic engagement classes.
