Reports: Hamas Says It Has Reached Cease-Fire Deal With Israel

After seven weeks of intense fighting that's killed more than 2,000, Hamas says it is prepared to announce a "long-term" cease-fire deal with Israel.

That's according to reports from the BBC, the AP and Reuters, who are quoting Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri saying an official announcement in Cairo is expected shortly.

The BBC reports Palestinian negotiators said "Israel had agreed to ease its blockade of Gaza to allow in aid supplies and building materials."

There is still no word from Israel about any deal. But the terms outlined by Hamas seem to point to a broader peace agreement, unlike the temporary ones that have preceded it.

Haaretz reports that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will make an announcement at 7 p.m. local time.
