Comic-Con may not start until next week, but there are some events happening before the big weekend, plus some sophisticated comic-related options.
Dogs get into the Comic-Con spirit at this fifth annual pet costume contest and adoption event. Canines will be able to enter a costume contest ($10 entry fee) with their owners, or strut the runway alone. There will also be dog-friendly games like bobbing for squeak toys and a photo booth, complete with costumes you can borrow.
Don't have a dog? There will be costume-clad animals for adoption from the Helen Woodward Animal Center.
Details: 10 a.m. Saturday. Hazard Center, 7610 Hazard Center Drive, Mission Valley. Free to $10.
