San Diego County medical providers are telling people who are not at high risk to wait awhile before they get their swine flu shot.
"Just one little stick right here, and that's all there is to it!"
A nurse delivers a seasonal flu vaccination at an impromptu clinic in the Skyline Neighborhood of San Diego. The seasonal flu vaccine has already arrived, but vaccine for the novel swine flu have yet to come. When it does, likely in mid-October, providers say the young, the sick and the pregnant will be first in line. Dr. Josef Zwass, with Kaiser Permanente, says unlike the seasonal flu vaccine, most of the H1N1 shots will not arrive right away.
"Every week and every month we'll get more and more and more vaccine," he said. "So they'll loosen up the restrictions on who gets it and who shouldn't.
Zwass says if healthy adults between 25 and 65, who aren't caregivers, want a swine flu shot right away, they'll be "encouraged" to come back later when the supplies are greater.
