A computer issue prompted a temporary halt to American Airlines flights to and from Dallas, Chicago and Miami Thursday, prompting delays at airports across the country and recommendations for San Diego travelers to contact the airline about the status of their flights.
American Airlines officials said the computer problem began at about 9 a.m. Pacific time, and the issue was resolved about two hours later.
During the outage, the airline requested a ground stop for planes heading for Dallas-Fort Worth and Miami international airports, along with Chicago O'Hare International Airport.
The San Diego airport's website listed two American flights — one arriving from Dallas and the other from Chicago — as delayed. Other arrivals and departures were running on time.
Although the computer problem was resolved, travelers were being urged to contact the airline about the status of their flights in case there are residual delays.
