Retired Army Sgt. Brendan Marrocco lost all four limbs in a 2009 roadside bomb attack in Iraq. He underwent a double arm transplant, with limbs from a deceased donor, back in January. One thing Brendan didn't lose in war was his wicked sense of humor.

Jason Barfield got in touch with me a few months ago to let me know her son was to be posthumously awarded the Bronze Star with Combat Valor on March 7, 2013 - what would've been Jason's 24th birthday.
