CBS, MSNBC Suspend Imus for Racial Comments

CBS Radio and MSNBC have suspended talk-show host Don Imus for two weeks. Their decision came at the end of a day in which he repeatedly apologized for disparaging Rutgers University women's basketball players in racially and sexually charged comments on the air last week.

Despite the inflammatory radio host's contrition, activists have called for Imus to be fired for his remarks.

Imus has a long history of making offensive comments on the air, some of which are followed by apologies. But the controversy over his latest insult to the women's basketball team has not died down.

Protests are planned for Tuesday at NBC headquarters in New York. And CBS Radio says it will closely monitor his broadcasts from now on.
