An onset of windy, dry atmospheric conditions will create acute wildfire risks in the San Diego-area inland valleys and mountains over a roughly 24-hour span starting Sunday evening, the National Weather Service warned today.
During the "fire-weather watch" period, sustained northeast winds up to 30 mph and gusts reaching 65 mph will be likely, the NWS advised.
Adding to the burn hazards will be daytime relative humidities as low as 10 percent, according to the federal agency.
The winds are expected to diminish significantly Monday afternoon, preceding an increase of local humidity levels that night, meteorologists said.
