Families looking to squeeze in one more summer camping getaway can spend Labor Day Weekend along the shores of Mission Bay. To close out the night, campers can head to Central Park for EDM Night. For over 10 years, the Sierra Club Seal Society (SCSS) has wanted a large sculpture of a sea lion statue to be created and placed in a prominent area for all San Diegans to see. Sergey Gornushkin, President of the SD Sculptors Guild in Balboa Park, is now doing just that. My son, a friend of Sergey, initiated this wonderful event by asking him to design the statue. We are having a free commemorative event on August 29 to celebrate the unveiling of Sergey’s 7-foot long, 6-foot-high statue. It will be held in Balboa Park, by Spanish Village, Studio 36 on Saturday, August 29 from 4 - 8 p.m. There will be several speakers starting at 4 pm.
