A festive cultural event featuring JJ Anderson, Special Guest and Local Filmmaker of "Sacred Soil: The Piney Woods School." The film tells an inspiring story about the history of Black educational institutions in America and how the last Black standing boarding school, Piney Woods School, is more than just an institution. The event will open with "The Main Line," a live performance of the life story of Gospel Singer Mahalia Jackson, written and directed by Jennie Hamilton-local Oak Park Producer and Director of plays and owner of the C.A.T. Theater. Dr. Patricia Williams, Author of "Out in Dem Streets: The Homelessness Pandemic Documentary and Personal Account," will share her personal experience as a homeless person for a period of ten years.
