WWII vet with Award Bronze Metal for bravery, oldest Marine Corps League member, and fitness pioneer turn 101, 102, 103 — Coronado event July 17 The Coronado Public Library is hosting “100+ A Celebration of Marvelous Lives” — a public panel conversation with three local centenarians, ages 101, 102, and 103. Peggy Price (103), Walt Travis (102), and Bill Hiscock (101). Bill served with the 20th Armored Division in World War II, crossing the Rhine and fighting in the Battle of the Ruhr Pocket before his division helped liberate Dachau. He earned the Combat Infantryman Badge and a Bronze Star for bravery. Walt is the oldest living member of the Marine Corps League. And Peggy has kept fitness at the center of her life since 1968, when she joined one of Coronado’s first community fitness programs — modeled after the Royal Canadian Air Force. Drawing as many as 75 people — a spark that kept her active for the rest of her life. Three centenarians, three very different paths to a hundred plus years — all in one room, sharing their wit and wisdom. The conversation will be led by Cynthia Mendolia, National Board-Certified Health & Wellness Coach specializing in aging and longevity with special guest Jill Olen, for the National Institute on Aging. The Vindys are an American pop band from Youngstown, Ohio. They are known for their 2024–2025 tours with Pat Benatar and for the 2023 sports anthem “Are You Ready,” as well as orchestral collaborations and soundtrack appearances. Founded in 2014 the band grew over the following decade from a regional Midwest group to a nationally known act.
